Zheng Joo a Malaysian designer whose work investigates design authorship. This practice intends to liberate the idea of interpreting design from the cult of the author’s personality, from the idea of the author as originator, the idea that we can really know the author through his writing, the power of creating a story. She believes design should be human-centered and go beyond commercial consideration. Good ideas in design require further development after they are presented as conceptual gestures, only then will they add meaning to the world and reach a larger public.

She creates and pursues projects that situated between design and cultural communication. Her experience ranges from long-term projects to small commissions; from print to environmental graphics; from typesetting to art direction.

Currently based in Singapore.
